Third Annual Fiber Arts Day & Fashion Show

Saturday, October 27, 2018

The Third Annual Fiber Arts Demo Day & Fashion Show was held on Saturday, October 27, 2018, from 10 am to 4 pm at Immanuel Presbyterian Church on Carlisle Blvd SE in Albuquerque, NM. The event was sponsored by The Yarn Store at Nob Hill in conjunction with the store’s eighth birthday. This was a free & family friendly event open to the public.

Nineteen Fiber Arts Guilds & Groups shared their love of the fiber arts during the Fiber Arts Demo Day & Fashion Show by demonstrating & sharing examples of their particular fiber art with the many visitors. There were weavers & spinners, knitters & crocheters, doll makers & polymer clay artists, embroiderers & sewers, and so many more groups sharing their enthusiasm for the Fiber Arts & encouraging visitors to become interested & get involved with a new (or former) hobby. As an added bonus, new & creative ideas were exchanged between members of the Guilds & Groups throughout the day.

One of the fun highlights of the day was the Fashion Show with Fiber Artists modeling their own fashions, such as shawls & scarves. The Bead Society Guild graciously paired their hand-created jewelry with the fashions to create a complete look. Another highlight was the Hands-On Table where children & adult visitors tried their hand at weaving on looms, creating pompoms & ojos de dios crafts.

The Fiber Arts Demo Day & Fashion Show is an event not to be missed for all Fiber Art Enthusiasts! The next Fiber Arts Demo Day & Fashion Show event will be held in the fall of 2019. Mark your calendars!
