GUILDS
For Guild Members Only. If you are a member of an AFAC co-sponsoring guild, enter your artwork in the second AFAC Fiber Arts Show to be held at the Arts Alliance Gallery in Albuquerque. Click on 2008 Entry Form for information and entry details. Deadline is April 18, 2008 for entry and image. Exhibit is May 2-June 2, 2008. Also plan to submit original work for the Baby Bonnet Exhibit that will also be on display. These handmade bonnets will be shown in honor of Mother's Day. Works may be for sale. Our co-sponsoring guilds look forward to our new premises at the Manuel Lujan Building at the Expo New Mexico grounds for the 2009 Fiesta. We desperately needed more space as now we have sixteen co-sponsoring guilds and growing numbers of entries. Also, we are pleased to announce that we will begin offering classes on site organized by the guilds. More information when we get it!
Fifteen fiber art guilds participated in the 2007 Albuquerque Fiber Arts Fiesta. The Albuquerque Fiber Arts Fiesta began in 1997, when seven guilds joined together to put on an exhibition displaying many types of fiber art. Now 15 guilds are working together with the Albuquerque Fiber Art Council, Inc. to produce this biennial event. The Council handles the financial responsibilities of promoting and housing the show while the guilds are concerned with the public exhibits, demonstrations, special exhibits and events and guild membership booths. The guilds have benefited by getting to know each other better through the Council, sharing information about programs and workshops as well as developing educational projects to help promote fiber art.
